MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

July 22, 2010

MEMBER ADDRESSES:

Once again Swim Ontario would like to remind clubs that it is a requirement of registration to provide accurate residential member addresses.  As per our August 2009 registration procedures and memo;

“All Swim Ontario member clubs in good standing or on probationary status must register all of their members and provide accurate residential address information in one of the following categories. Failure to do so may result in a club to be suspended/deemed inactive”.

The Swim Ontario Board of Directors has reviewed many areas which require stronger compliance.  The collection of accurate residential addresses of members has been determined as an area needing improvement based on our risk management policy.  This has been required to date and will be strongly enforced in September.

Clubs/parents are requested to review their residential contact information on the SNC database and update to adhere to the current policy of registration.

SESSIONAL SWIMMER REGISTRATION:

In order to align with Swimming Natation Canada registration categories each province Canada wide, has been asked to align with the SNC registration categories.

The sessional swimmer category will not be offered for the 2010-2011 season.

Clubs will have two main member categories to register swimmers:

1.                  Non-competitive

2.                  Competitive

While it may be obvious that the sessional member registration category has been eliminated, please note that clubs may continue to offer sessions (8-12) for their program delivery, but will only have to register each swimmer once per season no matter how many sessions they participate in.  The club fee structure continues to be determined by each individual club.

COACHES REGISTRATION:
All Coaches are required to register with Swim Ontario/SNC and CSCTA (www.csca.org). It has been brought to our attention that some coaches are not registering with both organizations. Club registrars please ensure your coaches are properly registered. If you need assistance with checking this compliance concern, please contact Lindsay at our offices (lindsay@swimontario.com)

OFFICIALS AND VOLUNTEERS:
To remain compliant with our Insurance coverage, Swim Ontario requires all member clubs to list and maintain accurate contact/residential information for all officials along with all club volunteers in their club database found on the SNC site.
