Swim Ontario AGM and President Dan Thompson's message to the membership

Swim Ontario concluded a very successful conference and awards recognition weekend for coaches, officials and club leaders/administrators on Sunday with its Annual General Meeting.

We are pleased to announce that Swim Ontario elected three new members to the Board of Directors.  We welcome Mr. Tym Barker, Mr. Paul Legault, and Mr. Dan Thompson.  Upon the conclusion of the AGM the BOD convened to establish some of the organizations directors and leadership.  The Board of Directors elected Mr. Dan Thompson to President, and approved Mr. Dale Leckie as Vice-President, Mr. Bud Seawright as Treasurer and Mr. Tym Barker as Secretary.

Dear Swim Ontario Members,

I am honoured to serve as your President for this upcoming year.  Together our board will work hard to honour Swim Ontario’s vision as a “World Leader in swimming development at all levels”.  We have already scheduled our first board meeting and will get to work on delivering against the strategic plan and serving you our members. I would like to thank our outgoing board members for their service over the last number of years.  They have truly made a difference and we wish them well and hope they will stay involved.

They are:

  • Eric Martin, who served 13 years on the board and 4 years as President.  Thank you, Eric, for navigating the waters and always striving to understand the issues and keep the association focused on our strategic goals.
  • Suzanne Paulins, who served on the board for 8 years and was instrumental in shepherding the strategic plan process. Thanks for your contribution and best of luck with your new role at Swimming Canada.
  • Jocelyn Jay, who served on the board for 2 years.  Thank you for your leadership and contribution to the Finance and Audit committee

We are looking forward to building on Swim Ontario’s tremendous success in the process driving alignment at every level to better serve you our members.

Dan Thompson
Swim Ontario Board of Directors
President
