2024-2025 Swim Ontario Board of Directors

News

Swim Ontario held its Annual General Meeting virtually Wednesday September 18, 2024, and welcomes two new Board members; Taylor Bond and Ahmed Abdelfattah, while Andy Mitchell and Robert Giggey were re-elected for another term.

Taylor Bond, who currently resides in Toronto, is a former competitive swimmer and graduate from University of Toronto. Taylor's professional attributes include a professional designation in marketing and has professional fundraising and operational experiences . Taylor has substantial not-for-profit and board experience, with significant experience in developing and implementing DEI initiatives.

Ahmed Abdelfattah lives in Ottawa and has been very involved in the swimming community for many years. Ahmed swam at the National level for Egypt prior to immigrating to Canada. He continued his involvement as a parent and official, having reached his Level 5 Officials certification in 2018. Ahmed has governance experience serving on other not-for-profit and public Boards of Directors and his professional skills and experience includes financial management, business strategy and planning, managerial responsibilities, risk management, and policy development.

"I would like to congratulate Ahmed and Taylor for their election to the board and thank them for their willingness to serve. Their experience and knowledge will assist the board in addressing the issues facing the Ontario swimming community in the next year.Before welcoming the newly elected Board members, Andy Mitchell acknowledged Janet Morrison who did not seek re-election for her three year term to the Board," said Andy Mitchell, returning Swim Ontario President.

Taylor and Ahmed will join current Board members Andy Mitchell (re-elect), Robert Giggey (re-elect), Leela D’Cruz, Andrea Jurenovskis, Jamie Peetsma, Tobias Oriwol and Brad Sales.
