EVENTS AND PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Swim Ontario is seeking an individual for the Summer Student Employment Experience 2024 position funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport and Swim Ontario. This position will be of special interest to those students having experience and/or enrolled in programs with a focus on sport management, recreation leadership or health promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day general office operations including reception, inquiries, material orders, mail sorting
  • Assisting with Open Water Championships, Provincial Championships, Para Programming Development Events, Virtual and In Person Events and Training Camps – travel and accommodation requirements and the 2024 Swim Ontario Conference and AGM awards and program
  • Managing and updating databases and websites
  • Processing membership and/or event applications
  • Preparing monthly reports
  • Managing virtual meetings

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Computer and database management knowledge
  • Knowledge of virtual platforms, zoom etc.
  • Sport media and sport marketing experience an asset
  • NCCP Certification and Training an asset

Hours and Place of Work

The successful applicant will work at the Toronto office (875 Morningside Rd – offices located in Toronto Pan Am Centre), as well as virtually and multiple weekend work at events in the GTA and outside of the GTA

Start date – April 15, 2024 (TBC) End Date – August 31, 2024.

General hours of work are Tuesdays and Thursdays in office, with weekend events totaling 250 hours.

Remuneration - $18/hour
