Swim Ontario Next Gen Performance Coach Mentorship Program

PROGRAM
One of the strategic aims of Swim Ontario is to enhance the development of Performance Coaches in Ontario. The Swim Ontario Next Gen Performance Coaching Mentorship Program will be a professional development opportunity for mentoring Performance Coaches in Ontario towards a consistent and reliable contribution to the Junior and Senior National teams.
DESCRIPTION
Based on an application and review process, Swim Ontario will identify a select group of 15 coaches born 1987 and later for the 2022-2023 season. This group of coaches will be mentored by Olympic level coaches, including Tom Johnson, through a series of virtual and in person activities and events from September 2022 through to April 2023.
The ideal candidate has the desire to make coaching a career and is currently leading a club program or has intention to lead a club program within the next 3 years, with a goal of contributing to the provincial and national programs. Candidates must also have shown a willingness to participate in Regional and Provincial opportunities such as camps, virtual meetings and activities.

Coaching Roundtable Discussion
October 12 - Virtual Meeting
October 28-30 - World Cup, Toronto
November 16 - Virtual Meeting
December 16 - Ontario Junior International
Stage 2 - January-May TBD
Coach Eligibility
Must be fully registered with Swimming Canada
Must be a minimum of NCCP Age Group Coach Trained (have taken Swimming 201)
Actively Coaching Provincial or National level swimmers
Must be born in 1987 or later
Must be available to attend all mentoring sessions as listed above
Letter of endorsement from their club president
Coach Responsibilities
All travel, accommodation for in person events will be the responsibility of the selected coach.
Coaches are responsible for the registration and payment for the Swim Ontario Conference. Registration can be found HERE. Conference registration deadline is September 14.
Swim Ontario Responsibilities
Swim Ontario will cover costs such as accreditations, ticketing, meals and program costs during the World Cup.
Amendments and Unforeseen Circumstances:
In the event of unforeseen or unusual circumstances, Swim Ontario Performance Staff under the direction of the CEO has the full discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant.
Changes to this Document:
The Swim Ontario performance staff reserves the right to make changes to this document at its discretion.
Any changes to this document shall be communicated directly to all eligible participants and published on the Swim Ontario website
