As part of the Swim Ontario strategic plan to engage, inspire and empower members, this Outreach program will provide training and reference materials to Swim Ontario member clubs aimed at improving operations and overall organizational health & resiliency.
Swim Ontario has engaged two experienced club leaders to spearhead this initiative.
Naomi Paterson
"Over the past decade, I’ve been deeply involved in the sport of swimming through a wide range of roles—club president, coach, team manager, certified official, and proud swim parent. As President of the Collingwood Clippers and Chair of the Huronia Region, I’ve helped guide sustainable club growth, foster strong team culture, and support operational improvement across our region. My background in Human Resources, governance, and strategic planning has allowed me to support other clubs in navigating challenges and aligning effectively with Swim Ontario’s standards.
What drives me is a belief in the power of swimming to build confidence, connection, and leadership—both in and out of the pool. I’m excited to work with Swim Ontario to help more clubs strengthen their operations and create spaces where swimmers, coaches, and volunteers can thrive."
Trevor Cowan
"I've experienced the sport of swimming from nearly every angle over the last two decades of involvement. Starting as a parent volunteer, I've served as an ASCA certified coach, administrator, board director, club president, and official. This journey has included contributing to nine multi-sport games, from Island Games to the Pan-Am Games.
In my professional life, I have 3 decades of experience in information technology, as an entrepreneur, consultant, and architect with global reach. I currently work for one of Canada's big 3 telcos.
My passion for swimming stems from its ability to foster personal growth and life skills, offering a unique environment for lifelong learning and collaboration with diverse talent. I am committed to contributing to excellence in swimming at all levels within a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative setting."
