THIS PROGRAM OPPORTUNITY IS MADE POSSIBLE BY SWIM ONTARIO THROUGH THE INTERNATIONAL PODIUM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AS PART OF THE OHPSI PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM, CULTURE AND SPORT.

SWIMMER FEE: $1200.00

TEAM SIZE:

  • Up to 16 Olympic Stream Swimmers regardless of gender
    • OUA Varsity-Open Swimmers: Up to 8 swimmers
    • Competitive Open and Competitive Development Registered Swimmers: Up to 8 Swimmers
  • Swim Ontario reserves the right to select additional swimmers to the Age Group contingent should the eight (8) spaces are not filled in the OUA contingent.

SWIMMER ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Must be eligible to compete for Canada
  2. Must be training full time with a Swim Ontario affiliated program or the High Performance Centre Ontario (HPCO)
  3. OUA Varsity Swimmers must be currently registered with an Ontario University Association(OUA) Ontario based University with Swimming Canada in the Varsity-Open category.
  4. Must be committed to year round training and racing.
  5. Competitive Registered swimmers must be currently registered in the Competitive Open or in Competitive Development category and in good standing with a Swim Ontario member club.
  6. Must be qualified and in preparation for the 2024 Canadian Swimming Trials.

PERFORMANCE WINDOW: January 1, 2023- September 30, 2023

PERFORMANCE ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible swimmers must have achieved a minimum of one (1) long course performance that falls within the Swim Ontario Euromeet Consideration Times (see below) in Olympic events based on results from the 2023 Euromeet.

  1. All considered long course performances must come from the defined performance window.
  2. OUA registered swimmers must have competed in at least two (2) of the following competitions.
  • 2023 U-Sport Championships (February 2023)
  • 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials (April 2023)
  • 2023 Summer Ontario Swimming Championships (July 2023)
  • 2023 Canadian Swimming Championships (July/August 2023)
  • 2023 World Aquatics Junior Championships (September 2023)

3. One competition must have taken place in the summer.
4. Competitive Registered swimmers must have competed at least 2 of the following competitions.

  • 2023 Ontario Winter Swimming Championships (March 2023)
  • 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials (April 2023)
  • 2023 Ontario Summer Swimming Championships (July 2023)
  • 2023 Canadian Swimming Championships (July/August 2023)
  • 2023 World Aquatics Junior Championships (September 2023)

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Identified swimmers who achieve a Swim Ontario Euromeet Consideration Times will be confirmed as eligible based on the listed swimmer eligibility above.
  2. OUA swimmers will be identified based on the number of events qualified for the competition using the Swim Ontario Euromeet Consideration Times. Swimmers will then be ranked based on the highest FINA points using the Swimming Canada RTR.
  3. Eligible Competitive Open or Competitive Development swimmers who have achieved at least one of the consideration times will be ranked using the World Class On-Track Times.
  4. Swimmers registered in the Varsity Open Category are not eligible for selection in the Competitive Open and Competitive Development categories.
  5. Swimmers registered in the Competitive Open Category are not eligible for selection in the Varsity Open category.
  6. In case of a tiebreaker, tied swimmers will be ranked based on their FINA points. Swimmers with the highest FINA points will be selected to be a part of the tour.
  7. Should there be a tie in FINA points, the swimmer with the second highest ranked event based on FINA points will be selected.
  8. Swim Ontario reserves the right to select swimmers outside of the selection criteria to the tour based on selection and performance at 2023 provincial programming camps.

Travel and Accommodation:

  • Travel and Accommodation for the tour will be coordinated by the Team Manager.
  • Any costs associated with Pre and Post Tour travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the attending swimmers and coaches.

Amendments and Unforeseen Circumstances:

  • In the event of unforeseen or unusual circumstances, Swim Ontario Performance Staff under the direction of the CEO has the full discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant.

Changes to this Document:

  • The Swim Ontario performance staff reserves the right to make changes to this document at its discretion.
  • Any changes to this document shall be communicated directly to all eligible participants through their Coach of Record and published on the Swim Ontario website.
