Breaststroke Performance Groups

Rationale: Provide a training opportunity that introduces and develops best practices for international level breaststroke performance.

Dates:

• Male: June 5-7, 2023
• Female: June 7-9, 2023

Location: Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre

Camp Size: 9 Swimmers Male/Female

Swimmer Eligibility:

• Swimmers must be fully registered for Swimming Canada/Swim Ontario
• Swimmers must eligible to represent Canada internationally
• Swimmers must meet Age of Eligibility listed above to be considered.
• Swimmers must do a significant portion of their training in Ontario.
• All participants must meet qualifying standards

Athlete Participation Fee: $250.00

Performance Window: January 1, 2022-April 3, 2023

Performance Eligibility

• Swim Ontario will only consider results in the 100/200 Breaststroke events from all sanctioned long course (LCM) competitions within the eligible performance window.
• Only results that appear on the Swimming Canada RTR and on Swimrankings.net will be considered.
• It is the responsibility of the home club and swimmer to ensure that times are submitted and uploaded to the RTR

Selection Priorities:

• Priority 1: Top 4 ranked 100m Breaststroke performances within the defined performance window
• Priority 2: Top 4 ranked 200m Breaststroke performance within the defined performance window not already selected
• Priority 3: Highest ranked female 14 and Under in the 200 Breaststroke and highest ranked male 15 and Under in the 200m Breaststroke not already selected

Selection Criteria:

• The four (4) highest ranked swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke and the four highest ranked swimmers in the 200 Breaststroke will be identified based on LCM performances achieved during the identified performance window
• The next three (3) highest ranked swimmers per event, will be designated as alternates and will become eligible for selection should a vacancy occur.
• If any athlete appears in the Top 4 for each distance, they will be selected based on the highest ranked performance.
• Swim Ontario reserves the right to not select a full complement of swimmers for this camp

Selection Timelines:

• The four (4) highest ranked swimmers using the selection criteria above will be notified of their eligibility to attend the tour through their Coach of Record on Thursday April 6th, 2023
• Swimmers must confirm their attendance using the Swimmer Registration link by Thursday April 13th, 2023 at 5:00pm EST.
• The final list of confirmed swimmers will be circulated to Coaches of Record on Monday April 17th, 2023.
• Swim Ontario reserves the right to not select a full complement of swimmers for this event

Travel and Accommodation:

• GTA swimmers will be responsible for their own accommodation and transportation.
• Swimmers from outside of the GTA will be provided accommodation and have mileage paid to attend training.
• All travel and accommodation plans will be coordinated by the Swim Ontario Provincial Team Coordinator to all attending confirmed swimmers.

Amendments and Unforeseen Circumstances:

• In the event of unforeseen or unusual circumstances, Swim Ontario Technical Staff under the direction of the CEO has the full discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant.

Changes to this Document:

• The Swim Ontario technical staff reserves the right to make changes to this document at its discretion.
• Any changes to this document shall be communicated directly to all eligible participants through their Coach of Record and published on the Swim Ontario website.
• Full attendance and participation is required
• Athlete coaches must attend the sessions as well
