Location: Barbados
Tour Dates: November 3-11, 2024
Training Dates: November 4-8, 2024
Competition: Barbados Open Water Festival - November 9-10, 2024

Tour Size: SIX (6) swimmers

• Three (3) Females, Three (3) Males
• Swim Ontario reserves the right to not select a full complement of swimmers for this camp

Staff:

• Coach of Record for the highest ranking female swimmer
• Coach of Record for the highest ranking male swimmer

Age of Eligibility: Year of Birth: 2008-2010

Performance Window: January 1, 2024- August 31, 2024

Athlete Participation Fee:

Approximately $3500-$4000 as determined by Swimming Canada.

Swim Ontario will subsidize up to $1750.00 dollars to offset cost.

Swimmer Eligibility:

• Swimmers must be eligible to compete for Canada in this event
• Swimmers must be fully registered for Swimming Canada/Swim Ontario
• Swimmers must meet Age of Eligibility listed above to be considered.
• Selected swimmers must have achieved a minimum time standard of the 2023 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships qualifying time for their age group
• Swimmers who participated in the Swimming Canada Distance Camp in Mallorca are not eligible to participate in this initiative.

Swimmer Selection Priorities:

• Top three (3) highest ranked Female and Males in the 1500 Free in the identified year of births range achieved during the identified performance window listed on Swimming Canada RTR will be identified.
• The next six (6) (three females and three males) highest ranked swimmers in the 1500 free will be designated as alternates and will become eligible for selection should a vacancy occur.

PERFORMANCE ELIGIBILITY

• Swim Ontario will only consider results in the 1500m freestyle from all sanctioned long course (LC) competitions within the eligible performance window.
• Only results that appear on the Swimming Canada RTR or in swimrankings.net will be considered.
• It is the responsibility of the clubs or athletes to ensure that results are uploaded to the Swimming Canada RTR

Selection Timelines:

• The three (3) highest ranked swimmers per gender in the 1500 Free using the selection criteria above will be notified of their eligibility for selection through their Coach of Record
• Swimmers must confirm their attendance using the Swimmer Registration link
• The final list of confirmed swimmers will be circulated to Coaches of Record
• Swim Ontario reserves the right to not select a full complement of swimmers for this camp

Travel and Accommodation:

• All travel and accommodation plans will be coordinated and communicated by Swimming Canada Team Manager to all confirmed swimmers.

Amendments and Unforeseen Circumstances:

• In the event of unforeseen or unusual circumstances, Swim Ontario Technical Staff under the direction of the CEO has the full discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant.

Changes to this Document:

• The Swim Ontario technical staff reserves the right to make changes to this document at its discretion.
• Any changes to this document shall be communicated directly to all eligible participants through their Coach of Record and published on the Swim Ontario website.
