Swim Ontario is pleased to announce the following updates to the 2024 Provincial Events Calendar:

Peterborough Swim Club (PTBO) is the confirmed host for the 2024 Summer Ontario Youth-Junior Championships – June 13 – 16, 2024 – Markham Pan Am Centre

Etobicoke Swim Club (ESWIM) is the confirmed host for the 2024 Summer Ontario Festival Championships – June 14- 16, 2024 – Etobicoke Olympium

Feb 3 / October 31 update

The following change has been made to the OYJ meet format

• Swimmers who achieve either the SCM or LCM OSC qualifying time by the entry deadline (age as of Feb 29) are not eligible to advance to finals at OYJ in that event. They will be marked exhibition and are not eligible to advance to finals.
• Eligibility and de-qualifying for the event is still in place for OYJ

September 18 update

Based on feedback received from the Provincial Competition Survey sent July 20, 2023 as well as competition evaluation throughout the season, the following changes have been implemented for the 2023-2024 season.

Festival Championships:

• Removal of the 13 year old age category
• Sessions will be split accordingly;
  • AM: 11 & 12 year olds
  • PM: 10&Under
• In light of the removal of 13 year olds from Festivals, the time standards for the 2023-2024 season have also been adjusted.
• Based on eligibility reports as of September 1, 2023 the following changes have been made;
  • 10 & Under time standards adjusted to target a session with 300 swimmers
  • 11 & 12 time standards adjusted to target a session with 350-375 swimmers
• Additionally, 12 & Under with 2 or more OSC standards will not be eligible to attend the Festivals Championships.
• Para swimmers with 1 or more provincial para standard will not be eligible to attend Festivals Championships.

Ontario Youth-Junior Championships:

• The ineligibility to attend OYJ remains in place
  • 16 &Under with 2 or more OSC standards are not eligible to attend OYJ.
  • 17-18 with 1 or more OSC standards are not eligible to attend OYJ.
• The following has also been added:
  • Swimmers who achieve either the SCM or LCM OSC qualifying time by the entry deadline are not eligible to swim that event.
• All Bonus swims must meet the B Standard in either SCM or LCM.
• With the addition of the 13 year olds from Festivals, the bonus swim structure will be
  • 1 QT = 2 Bonus swims
  • 2 QTs = 1 Bonus swim
  • 3 or more QTs = 0 bonus swim
• There will be no exemption to the time standards for para swimmers.
• Para swimmers are encouraged to attend either Festivals (if no para provincial standard) or Ontario Swimming Championships.

Ontario Swimming Championships

• The relay Age Groups for both Women and Men have been adjusted to 15&Under and 16&Over to provide more opportunities for relay combinations.
