Coach Compliance

Coach Compliance for swim meets is in effect for competitions, however there are still some hiccups due to REMS issues. If a club has questions about what their coaches need to do to become compliant, please contact Lindsay.   If a coach is not on this list, meet management is to contact Lindsay first before enforcing the Swimming Canada policy and not permit that coach to attend the meet.

Canadian Swimming Utility (CSU) updates

LINK: https://csu.swimware.ca/

  • A reminder that only persons with a REMS Administrative account and Level 4 or 5 Active official can login to the CSU.
    • Meet Managers managing entries will need admin access to access the validator.  To setup a meet manager account the Club registrar can follow the steps outlined in the document HERE
  • Additional features have been added for Officials Lookup such as
    • Filter by Level of Certification
    • Skills finder - clinics / positions skills based on credentials in REMS.
  • Additional features have been added for Swimmer Lookup such as
    • A quick link to Swimmer ID to Swim Rankings for the swimmer showing Best Times
  • IMPORTANT: Under Swimmer Lookup and/or validator results, if a swimmer shows status “inactive”, this is a Swim Ontario designated status to indicate a swimmer is in Concussion Protocol.
    • Meet Managers are not to accept entries for swimmers with “inactive” status.  They should verify all entries prior to the start of competition (export entries file or roster file from MM database and run through the validator).  Questions regarding swimmers in inactive status can be directed to Swim Ontario COO Darin Muma.

COA Reminders

  • Officials Deck Evaluations

When a COA is adding deck evaluations for an official or wants to approve a deck evaluation from an official, then needs to select the Status “Active” from the Set status for credential.  Don’t select “passed”, “attended”, etc.  In order for the credential to show correctly in the CSU, the status must be “approved”.   Watch the short clip videos if unsure what to do.  REMS videos can be found HERE

  • Officials Clinics
    • All clinics must be managed through the LMS.  This is how the clinics are registered with Swim Ontario.
    • Clinics must be listed on the LMS with an instructor before they can be approved.  Instructors need to be registered in REMS and login at least once into the LMS to be visible.
    • COAs who are unable to login to the LMS ADMIN side to setup clinics, complete and send to REMS can request a COA LMS Admin account using the online form HERE
    • COAs that need to edit clinic information can contact nicole@swimontario.com
    • There are over 60 clinics to be completed and sent to the REMS in the LMS at the moment.  Make sure to save attendees, complete and send the information to the REMS (this does not take long) in order for the official’s profile on REMS to be updated.
      • For past clinics you will need to click on the link provided to see all un-submitted clinics.  They are highlighted in green.
    • In order for an official to be listed and searchable in the LMS they need to first login to the LMS through their REMS account.  HANDY TIP: if you try to do this for them through their public user account, make sure to logout of the LMS Admin side first.
