An official is defined as an individual pursuing officiating certification in order to volunteer qualified officiating services at sanctioned swimming competition. The Club Officials Administrator (COA) will initiate the registration of an official.

The National registration procedure requires all officials who wish to take clinics and officiate at a sanctioned competition be registered annually with Swimming Canada/Swim Ontario within two weeks (14 days) of commencing activity as an Official.

All officials will be required to execute the following consent forms through the Swimming Canada Registration and Event management system (REMS)  BEFORE attending an in-person clinic or officiating on deck.

  • Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk
  • Swim Ontario Code of Conduct and Concussion Management Procedures Acknowledgments (Rowan’s Law requirements)

Clubs and COAs will have 14 days to complete the registration of officials once activity has begun (clinics or on deck work).

An official agrees, by submitting their application to be a registered Swimming Canada / Swim Ontario official, to abide by and comply with the By-Laws, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of Swim Ontario including the Swim Ontario Code of Conduct. They understand fully the implications of being a registrant of Swim Ontario.
